In her debut Sydney Opera House solo performance, Aura Go presents In the changing light: Colour poems for piano, exploring the unique colouristic possibilities of the piano. The concert begins with three rarely-performed Finnish gems by composers who lived in the shadow of the great Jean Sibelius yet created their own unique sounds worlds that respond to their country’s unique landscapes and folk traditions. The concert’s centrepiece is a movement from Liza Lim’s work inspired by the colours of American painter Cy Twombly. Maurice Ravel’s mastery of the piano’s capabilities is showcased in some of his most popular pieces including Alborada del gracioso.
